What is it we are looking for? Love comes in many forms. There is friend love, family love, passionate love, and interspecies love. Love is about opening the heart chakra and about finding ourselves! It is also about balance. Maintaining our identity and integrity while loving another soul and allowing that other soul into our energy space is the key.

The need to be in relationship with others is a fundamental psychological need. Whether it’s family, life partner, children, friends, pets or colleagues, other beings are a mirror full of information about our relationship with ourself. Rumi’s poem reminds us that most human beings passionately seek a love union with another human that is special, even transcendent, one that brings us closer to ourselves, to another soul and to the Divine. Our relationships and our desire for understanding both ourselves and others is complex, and in many ways, unconscious. Love experiences are filled with happiness, promise, and hope. They are also known for disappointment, loss and pain. There is nothing more painful than a relationship that doesn’t get to live its life, doesn’t live up to its potential, gets stuck and stale, or ends sadly, tragically or without resolution.

Painful communications and events leave a residue of hurt and fear. How do we put our hurt and fear in the past so we can live in the present and welcome more love back into our life and relationships?
